Five Minute Friday: Loss

Today at the Gypsy Mama, our Five Minute Friday prompt is LOSS. All you need to do is write from the prompt for five minutes — no backtracking, edits, etc. Then link up and share your post. Won’t you join us?

Time for my own five minutes. Here goes…

When I think of loss, I think of so many different types of loss. Grief can come after a job loss, loss of a home, loss of a loved one, or just plain disappointment. I have experienced all of the above types of losses. What surprises me is the manner in which Gd has used each loss — not caused the loss, mind you — to strengthen me, soften my heart, and enrich my life. After all, I can truthfully say that if I had not lost my home, I would not have met the wonderful friends at the rescue mission shelter where I lived and worked. It probably would have taken me much longer to find my faith, and I’m not sure if I would have met my husband.

Paul exhorts us to “Rejoice!” Even as we go through a grieving process,we can hold on to the knowledge that God is holding us in His hand, preparing us for the next bold step in our lives.

Well, I must admit, the last sentence came with about 30 extra seconds. Just had to finish my thought. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on this prompt. Have a blessed week!

  1. Your comments concerning loss are so true. I have faced many losses in my life through personal relationships with friends, loves in my life, my father and grandmother, but most of all my loss of identity when I turned my back on God. This was by far the worst thing I have ever done.

Now I have since re-discovered my love for Christ and the Power He has over all I do. And, now, it is all good, great in fact.

Thank you for such a wonderful post.
